I see, if I remember correctly when I've read the novel I felt that the relationships between the characters were a little more tense in the novel then in the anime. I mean, they seemed a bit less friendly to eachother , but I've read only the first novel.
Hirota seems a little annoying and overreacting also in the novel? Maybe it's just me but he seems a little too over the top in his behaviour/character...
