Status
- Akuryou novel series: The translation is ongoing. See baka-tsuki.org.
- Akumu no sumu ie novel: Complete! See spr.dreamwidth.org. Important: If you read the Akumu no sumu ie novel/manga with anime-only knowledge, you will get spoiled and miss some very important developments. Unfortunately the original novel series translation is incomplete, so please read manga volumes 10-12 instead.
- Ghost Hunt manga: The manga is licensed, but volume 12 has not been published yet. A scanlation of volumes 10-12 is up at batoto.
- Ghost Hunt anime: Only covers up to volume 6 of the Akuryou novel series. Read vol 10-12 of the manga to fill up the gap between the anime and the Akumu no sumu ie novel/manga.
- Ghost Hunt Rewritten Novel series: No translation available yet.
- Akumu no sumu ie Manga: Complete. Scanlation is up at batoto.
Original versus Rewrites
So, my main question, is how to tell between the original novels and the rewritten ones. Starting out, I only bought the original volume 6 so I could do a rough translation for myself (slow, slow work), but then I wanted to have them all to check certain things against the current translations. While translating certain parts from the Japanese versions I noticed some strange differences, which made me worry that I hadn't gotten the original versions. Also, I noticed they had ads for Akumu no sumu ie. The books I have seem very old and are paper back. I thought maybe the rewrites were all hard cover and had art by Inada Shiho. Anyway, long explanation for a short question. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provided.
